Wood shutters, also called plantation shutters, are one of the most popular and stylish window treatments available. They maintain their value better than any other type of window covering. They are not only attractive and enhance curb appeal, but their ability to regulate and block light, insulate, increase the value of your home and fit in to almost any decorating scheme makes them virtually unsurpassed. Not only are they durable and easy maintenance, they are timeless so they will never go out of style. They look beautiful by themselves and seldom need a fabric valance or drapery to dress them up. Unlike vinyl shutters, wood shutters can be custom matched to virtually any paint or stain color. Wood shutters are also versatile and can be put on practically any size or shaped window or door. For a warm, authentic, traditional or contemporary look, wood shutters are an excellent choice.

Construction
Our shutters are custom made from the highest quality basswood lumber. Because basswood is one of the lightest in weight of all hardwoods, it is the superior choice for shutter construction. Basswood is also known for its resistance to sagging, warping and bowing. Basswood contains no sap to bleed through the finish, so it is the best choice for a beautiful finish.

Every stile and rail is joined by a minimum of three dowels. Extra-long heavy gauge staples are used in the louvers and tilt-rod to insure that they do not pull out. Each staple is coated with friction-activated glue that heats up when the staple is injected into the wood. The drop-rail front provides character to the shutter and our flush-rail back helps reduce light leakage. The thicker flush-rail makes the shutter stronger and more durable. Each shutter is mortised for both inner panel and hanging hinges, which assures there will be no light gaps where panels are hinged together or hinged to framing. All panel connections are rabbeted to prevent light leaking where panels meet. All wood shutters come with a tension screw adjuster to easily tighten or loosen the louvers as needed.
Shutter Installation
We offer superior service and customer satisfaction is always a priority. Our shutter installers are professionally trained employees, not subcontractors. They are friendly, courteous and punctual. As standard installation procedure, they apply two magnetic catches per panel, caulk in frames to the wall, touch up nail holes with a fine paint sprayer, and clean up after every job.
Care of Wood Shutters
To dust your painted or stained wood shutters you can use a feather duster, Swiffer cloth or carefully vacuum with a brush attachment. If your painted shutters need cleaning to remove any spots you can use a damp cloth or Simple Green sprayed on a cloth. For stained shutters, you can use a moderate amount of furniture oil such as Murphy's applied to a cloth to clean them. You especially want to use furniture oil on your stained shutters if they are exposed to excessive sunlight. Always make sure the shutters are thoroughly dry after you clean them. With proper care your shutters will last a very long time.
